It has been noted that iphone purchased from the market(not from the carrier - in UAE Etisalat or du) has been locked(sim card not recoginzed). Its because, the firmware has been upgraded to 4.2.1 automatically, when it connected to the pc and the modem firmware(called the "baseband") has been upgraded to 3.10.01. This phone cannot be unlocked as of now, can be used only just as an ipod touch. But hopefully, a crack is coming up from the iphone hack team( a well known hacker, Sheriff Hashim is giving hope to his followers in twitter that the crack is coming after the release of OS upgrade 4.3 from apple. Hoping to see the hack...
