TETHERING WITH ANDROID

I upgraded my Samsumg GT-I5503 to the latest version of Android(Froyo)2.2. It has got so many features and really very attractive. The main thing is it is able to work as a hotspot for internet for other devices!! I tested it and working like a charm!!! Hats off to Froyo2.2! No restrictions like iphone! We bought iphone and apple is deciding what we should use! Strange! No such restrictions in Androids, since it is open code.

"Rooting" and "Jailbreaking"

Share your Iphone internet via wifi

This article says about how to get internet connection for another devices/laptops from a tethered iphone

In other terms, you can use your iphone internet connection for other pcs as well.

Here you go:

Things you need:

1. iphone(of course) with tethering enabled
2. Your PC
3. A wireless router
4. Lan cable

Steps:

1. Connect your iphone to your main PC with itunes(or minimum apple mobile device driver) installed, and tether the internet.
2. Go to network and shaing centre(in Vista & Win 7)
3. Click Change adapter settings
4. You will see two network connections( One is apple mobile device(enabled) and local area connection(disconnected)
5. Select two connections together(click with ctrl key pressed)
6. Right click and click bridge connections
7. Now you will see a new virtual wireless router icon, status d/c
8. Connect your router with lan cable to the network connection port of your pc
9. Now the virtual router will be enabled/connected
10. Connect your other devices to the wireless connection of your router.
11. Congratulations!! Your device/laptop should be now connected to the internet

Note: you can use the wired connections(remaining 3 ports) of the router as well.  This was discovered by me after a lot of trial and error attempts. It really took a while for me to figure out :-)

Script for Hotspot Shield Starting & Stopping

Here is the way to start and stop Hotspot Shield safely. Starting hotspot shield from program menu will keep the service always on, and unnecessarily deliver ads to your pc. Exiting/disconnecting the program dosnt stop the service fom the background, and the service will keep on running. Stop the service after use is the best practice. Make two batch files with the below scripts.

For Starting

Setup Hotspot Shield in Iphone

Here you will find how to configure your iphone for Hotspot Shield(UAE Users)

Make sure that Wi-Fi is marked "OFF" in
Settings -> Wi-Fi

Then find the VPN settings in
Settings -> General -> Network -> VPN -> Add VPN Configuration:

• Select the IPSec tab/pane
• Description: HotspotShield
• Server: 68.68.107.101
• Account: cqu6ys
• Password: cqu6ys
• Use Certificate: OFF
• Group Name: hss
• Secret: hss

You are now done. Save the settings and hit the "HOME" button to quit. Make sure to turn Wi-Fi back "ON".

 

To activate Hotspot Shield on your iPhone, the VPN setting needs to be turned on. From "HOME" menu, go to Settings and click the "On" tab for VPN. Your Status will change to "CONNECTED" and the VPN icon will appear on top in the iPhone Tray when complete. If you cannot connect to the VPN immediately, power down your iPhone, turn it back on, and turn the VPN to "ON".

If you cannot connect to VPN immediately, power down your iPhone, turn it back on, and turn VPN to "ON" in "Settings".
